If, like me, you're a collector, you'd welcome space-saving boxes, so let's rejoice in Decca and DG's release of several of these - both in the uniquely designed Collectors Editions as well as three boxes devoted to Debussy and Ravel. I love Boulez's clarity with Debussy and Ravel. Don't ever be fooled into thinking they're short on emotion. His way with phrasing, rhythm, shape lends tremendous incisiveness and drive to the music and lets it breathe with all the languor it needs when called for, without ever becoming sentimental. And for boxed-set collectors, some great news: in May we'll release all of Herbert von Karajan's 1960s recordings for DG (with the exception of the operas). Original art work, and extensive, booklet, etc. Something to really look forward to!
Enjoy!
